野菜たちです。
My little veggies.

この１本だけほかのに比べるとやたらと元気なキュウリ。
Don't know why but this cucumber is growing really fast compared to other ones.


モロヘイヤは端っこに生えてたので真ん中に植え替えました。
Mulukhiyah were growing at the edge of the planter, so I moved them...


半分死んでたトマトの死んでなかった半分はかなり育ってます。
Half dead tomato is growing (undead half part).

ジャンバラヤ Jambalaya

塩分控えめジャンバラヤなるものが売っていたので作ってみた。

Okay, I got this reduced sodium Jambalaya today. I think it's new since I've never seen it before. Let's see how it tastes.



塩分控えめジャンバラヤミックス、ソーセージ、エビ、タマネギ、ピーマン、セロリ、生バジル、乾燥バジル、マッシュルーム、オリーブオイル

Reduced sodium Jambalaya mix, sausage, shrimp, onion, bell pepper, celery, fresh basil, dried basil, mushroom, EVOO



えーっと、やっぱり塩分控えめじゃない方がおいしいです。なんか味が薄い感じなので次からは普通のジャンバラヤミックスを使います。

hhmmm, I would say, the regular one tastes better. This reduced sodium one doesn't have enough taste to it.... I'll get the regular one next time.

生姜焼き定食 Shogayaki Teishoku

５分クッキングの生姜焼き定食。
5 mins meal, Shogayaki Teishoku (teriyaki type pork dish)

豚肉、醤油、酒、生姜、レタス、トマト、ご飯
Sliced pork, soy sauce, sake, ginger, lettuce, tomato, rice

おしるこ Oshiruko

もう夜１１時だってのにおなかがすいたので、おしるこ。

I know it's 11pm already, but I was hungry!!
I made some Japanese sweets called Oshiruko. These bean-looking things are yes, azuki beans (Japanese red beans). The things in there is Mochi. (rice cake)



せんべいと緑茶と。
with Senbei (rice cracker) and green tea.
OMB! I'm so Japanese sometimes!!

カレー曜日 Curry

今日は日本からやってきたカレー曜日。
Curry from my mom. (pre-cooked instant one)

野菜 My Vegetables

野菜たちのその後。
Okay, my plants are growing and dying...

キュウリは５つ植えた種が５つとも出てきて発芽率100％。着実に大きくなってきてます。
I planted 5 cucumber seeds. All of them sprouted!!



モロヘイヤもおそらく100％。いっぱい植えたからわかりません。
Also, all Mulukhiyah were sprouted. Not sure since I planted a bunch.


死にかけだった$1のトマトは死にかけだった部分はさらに死にかけに。でも新たに出てきた葉っぱは大きく丈夫に育ってきてます。
The half-dead tomato is even more dead. But the other half (new leaves) are growing pretty well.

みそラーメン Miso Ramen

こないだまずいラーメンを食べたから、ちゃんとしたのが食べたくて、こないだヒューストンで買ってきた冷凍のみそラーメンを作ってみた。

Since I had a bad ramen the last time, I wanted to had a "right" ramen. I got this frozen one from Houston.
Miso ramen is kinda common in Japan. I've seen one at the asian market in Tyler before. (it didn't tase good)

ヤーコンラーメン Yacon Ramen

こないだ母さんがおいていったヤーコンラーメンなるものを作ってみました。ヤーコンは根菜で、オリゴ糖とポリフェノールがたくさん入ってるらしい。

Okay, my mom left this Yacon Ramen when she came here. Yacon is a root vegetable that contain a lot of fructo-oligosaccharides and polyphenol. So this ramen should be good for stomach and heart.

ヤーコンラーメン、ハム、ニンニク、ネギ、紅ショウガ
Yacon Ramen, ham, garlic, green onion, beni-shouga (Japanese ginger pickles)

食べてみるとあまりおいしくなく、食感もいまいち。１分２０秒ゆでろと書いてあったので１分強ゆでてみたけど、コシもなく味もあんまりでした。

Okay, I have to say that this thing does not taste good... It's not nasty, but I didn't really like it. The taste, texture, color... didn't like any of them....

キュウリも出てきた！ Cucumber!!

まだ１週間もたってないのにキュウリまで出てきました。ここら辺は４月から気温３０度、湿度９０％前後の高温多湿地帯なので、まぁ当然なのかも。

It's been less than a week, but cucumber, too?? I guess the weather here (80-90 degrees, and humid) is helping them.



モロヘイヤに比べると、キュウリの芽はかなり大きいです。
Compared to mulukhiyah, cucumber is really huge.

野菜を植えてみる Planting Vegetables

いろいろ野菜を植えてみました。
I planted some vegetables today....

枯れかけのトマトが＄１だったので。
Half dead tomato was $1 at Lowe's.


ローズマリーも$1でした。
Rosemary was also $1.


ここにはアシタバの種が。でも古い種なので出るかな。
Japanese vegetable "Ashitaba" here. Seeds were pretty old, so I'm not sure if it's going to come out or not.


こっちも古い種だけど、日本のキュウリ、しそ、そしてモロヘイヤです。でるといいな。
They are also old seeds, but I planted Japanese cucumber (smaller than American one), Shiso (Japanese basil), and Mulukhiyah (Middle-Eastern, African vegetable).

ルイジアナとミシシッピ A trip to LA and MS

ルイジアナとミシシッピへの旅の続き。旅行へMacBookの電源コードを持っていき忘れたのでまったくアップロードできませんでした。

今日はグレードウォーターという町へアンティークショッピングへいきました。この町は街全体がアンティーク街になっていて、すごい数のアンティークモールが並んでいます。

帰り途中、車で住宅街を走っていると、かわいいシュナウザーの男の子がいたので写真を撮らせてもらいました。
On the way back home, we saw a cute little Schnauzer boy. We stopped for a while and took some pictures of him.
